Tweaks in Windows 10

Windows 10 user interface

Windows 10: Smaller search box, full start menu (restore Windows 8 metro), show default desktop icons, notification area, change screen resolution…

Smaller search box:

  1. Right click in the search box, near the start menu icon.
  2. In the menu that has just been opened, point to Search.
  3. Click Show search icon.

 

Restore Windows 8 metro (full screen start menu) in Windows 10:

  1. Right click in desktop.
  2. Click Personalize.
  3. Click Start.
  4. Switch to ON by clicking Use Start full screen.

 

Show default desktop icons:

  1. Right click in Desktop then click Personalize.
  2. Click, click Themes.
  3. Click Desktop icon settings.
  4. Check your favorite icons to show in desktop.
  5. Click OK.

 

Notification area in taskbar, turn icons on or off, show all icons:

  1. Right click in desktop.
  2. Click Display settings Personalize.
  3. Click Notifications & actions Taskbar.
  4. Under Notification area click Select wich icons appear on the taskbar.
  5. Under Always show all icons in the notification area switch to On  (Some settings are different due to some updates in Windows 10  )

 

Change screen resolution:

  1. Right click in desktop then find and click Display settings.
  2. Click Display.
  3. Under Resolution change screen resolution as you wish.
  4. Click Apply.
